Reflection - How one class influences others
During my first Semester at Salt Lake Community College after being away from School for over a Decade in regards to taking more than a random class here and there, it was amazing to me how concepts from all four of my classes kept overlapping in the most amazing ways.
I took English, American National Politics, Microeconomics, and Foundations of Business. While I was studying in my Economics class I continually drew conclusions of how our economy is tied to our politics, and how our politics influences our economy as even in the written literature for each class cited some of the same information. The class that most brought together information from both written text and class discussion was the Foundations of Business where most of the class was in discussion and essay creation. I found that I drew so much information from my Political Science class that thinking of ways to approach my essays in the business class were already well formed before I began.
It was a fantastic mixture of courses to take in getting back in the College arena, I was learning and refining new ideas and expressions that were put together quite by accident as I could choose from an wide variety of classes to get back into School. Classes that compliment each other in this way are definitely a great way to encourage great work and make a student enthusiastic about the topics learned.
